Tryptic
Here are my three still life images in the form of a tryptic. For this brief i was asked to gather various items found around student accommodations, after visiting various rooms in a neighbouring flat, this is what i found. Firstly i was found a Xbox pad, i found this was a great object as most students enjoy playing games consoles and the image would convey this. For this image i wanted the background to fit the scheme of the controller and so combined a mixture of red and black for the background. Secondly i found a bottle of Sourz alcohol, i thought this was great as students often drink alcohol and the image would convey the typical student. For this image i decided i wanted the background to be darker so that the bottle would stand out a lot more. Lastly i was found a knife, fork and a plate, my reasoning for this was that students often have to eat at home when the majority often want the luxury of takeaways, i felt the objects would convey this. For this image i wanted to experiment with the depth of field and wanted to bring out the knife and fork as much as possible to make it feel like they are coming out the image.
Research
In order to get an idea of what “Still Life” was, i began conducting some research into various images created by other people. What i found to be a pattern whilst searching through examples of still life imagery was that the primary focus was just that of the subject whilst i wanted to focus more on both the subject and the background combined. This is what sprouted my idea for my still life imagery that i wanted to blend the background with the subject.
